GEELONG premiership player Max Rooke has joined Gold Coast as a development coach.

Rooke, who retired at the end of 2010, played 135 games with the Cats and was a member of the 2007 and 2009 premierships.

He moved into coaching in 2012, working with Geelong's young players for the past four seasons.

Gold Coast general manager of football operation Marcus Ashcroft said the Suns were thrilled with Rooke's appointment.

"Max is a quality person and we believe our younger players will learn an enormous amount from him as development coach," Ashcroft said.

Rooke’s appointment follows the addition of Stephen Daniel as the Suns' NEAFL coach and recently retired Andrew Raines as the talent academy coach.

Last week, Gold Coast delisted three players, including ruckman Daniel Gorringe.

Gorringe, 23, played 22 games but only managed two last season after being selected at No.10 in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft.

Gorringe joins Danny Stanley and rookie Josh Glenn as delistings, although the Suns have committed to re-drafting Stanley in the rookie draft with their last selection.
