JARRAD Grant will get a chance to revive his AFL career at Gold Coast, after the Suns claimed the former Western Bulldogs forward as a delisted free agent on Friday.

Grant was delisted by the Bulldogs at the end of last month's trade period despite playing 19 games this year, including the elimination final loss to Adelaide.

But Gold Coast has given Grant a second chance to deliver on the talent that saw him taken with the No.5 pick in the 2007 NAB AFL Draft, when Suns list manager Scott Clayton was in charge of the Dogs' recruiting team.

The 193cm forward played 81 games and kicked 83 goals in his eight seasons at the Western Oval, the first four of which were played under Rodney Eade, who returned to coaching at Gold Coast last year.

Grant told the Suns' website he was looking forward to continuing his career at Gold Coast.

"I couldn't think of a more exciting club to join. I know a lot of people at the Suns and I take great confidence that they have faith in me to play the role they're after," Grant said.

"Having played under 'Rocket' before, I know what he is after, know what he expects and I just can't wait to get up there and start."

Gold Coast football manager Marcus Ashcroft said snaring Grant completed a successful free agency/trade period for the club.

"Leading up to the exchange period we identified we would target a suitable ruckman, winger and forward to play specific roles for us in 2016 and beyond," Ashcroft said.

"We secured Dan Currie and Matt Rosa during the exchange period and now Jarrad is the final piece to that puzzle."
