SYDNEY Swans youngster Brandon Jack's strong finish to last season has earned him a new two-year contract at the club.

The 21 year-old struggled for senior opportunities early in 2015 but, after being called up from the reserves in round 16 – just his second game of the season – Jack's tackling pressure made him a valuable member of the Swans' forward set up.

Jack was left out of the Swans' semi-final team that lost to North Melbourne when coach John Longmire opted for more goalscoring power by picking lively forward James Rose, but his impressive second half of the season has seen him sign on until the end of 2017.

Another product of the Swans' academy system, Jack's 10 games in 2015 was his highest tally in three seasons, and Longmire said the new deal was reward for patience.

“Brandon played a fair bit of football for us in the back half of the season and he brings some real speed into our side,” Longmire said.

“He is a guy that works really hard at his game, is always at the club and leaves no stone unturned in terms of the way he prepares.

“I am sure whatever happens next year, Brandon Jack will give himself every opportunity because that is the sort of kid that he is.”

After coming off the rookie list, Jack has played 27 games for the Swans and averaged almost 13 possessions per game in 2015. He is the brother of club co-captain Kieren Jack.
