PROMISING Adelaide recruit Dean Gore will wear number 36 for the Crows next year, much to the delight of the Simon Goodwin fan.

Goodwin wore the No.36 on his back in 275 games for Adelaide, including the 1997 and 1998 premierships.

Gore, recruited to the Crows from Geelong as part of the Patrick Dangerfield deal, said there was only one reason he wanted to wear the jumper.

"I chose the No.36 because Simon Goodwin wore it," Gore told the club's website.

"As a kid, I used to go to Crows games all the time and he (Goodwin) was a player I loved watching."

The jumper was made available for next season after Brodie Martin was delisted.

Youngster Riley Knight has also upgraded his number, moving from No.39 to No.3.

The jumper was most recently worn by Brent Reilly, who played 110 of his 203 games in the guernsey before retiring this year.

Knight said it wasn't an easy decision to accept the number given Reilly's status at West Lakes.

"Radar (Reilly) has been a huge mentor for me since I've been at the club," Knight said.

"He's taught me a lot both on and off the field, so when he asked me if I wanted to wear his number next year I was very honoured.

"It actually took me a while to decide whether or not to take on the jumper given that it belonged to such a successful and respected player before me, but in the end I was very honoured to accept it."
