GOLD COAST added plenty of character as well as talent at Tuesday's NAB AFL Draft, Suns list manager Scott Clayton says.

Talented pair Harley Bennell and Charlie Dixon had issues with discipline last season but they're no longer with the club, and Clayton believes this year's draftees have the chance to help give the Suns a fresh start.

High-flying speedster Callum Ah Chee heads the list of new players added to the Gold Coast list, while Brayden Fiorini, Josh Schoenfeld and Mackenzie Willis are all players of solid character with a strong work ethic, according to Clayton.

"We've made some tough decisions as a footy club and we're proud of that," Clayton told AFL.com.au.

"We're all on the same page, so it's been really exciting as a group, we know where we're going and this draft was just another piece of that.

"We took into consideration all things as we usually do but they're a good group coming in.

"We're a 'best talent' organisation, but we certainly wanted to bring in some reliable, manic trainers, which we've done.

"Across the board we got some great talent, mixed with some really hard working endurance runners as well as some speed and power."

Selection No.8 - Callum Ah Chee
Scott Clayton says: "He's really exciting. We nailed it, in regards to who we thought we wanted to draft when we discussed it on the way here, and we were pretty close I must say."

Selection No.20, Brayden Fiorini
Scott Clayton says: " We think he's untouched, he's going to be a really, really solid player. The back half of his year we thought was outstanding, and we already liked him at the championships. He's a ball magnet, goes where you want him to go as an inside/outside midfielder."

Selection No.34, Josh Schoenfeld
Scott Clayton says: "An absolute beast of a runner in regards to getting over the ground. He was probably the cornerstone of this draft, we were always really keen to get him."

Selection No.52, Mackenzie Willis
Scott Clayton says: "We've been tracking him for three years or so and this year we though he's just about ready, and he's a pro too."
