PORT Adelaide's Jared Polec has been given the green light to attack a full 2016 after being cleared of the left-foot injury that derailed him last season.

Power coach Ken Hinkley said Polec was given the good news after visiting his surgeon in Sydney.

"The report is magnificent … the navicular (bone damage in his left foot) has healed; he is right to go,” Hinkley told news.com.au.

"He needs care, he needs managing but the report is really promising.

"We’re hopeful we can see him for the whole season – he is like a new recruit."

After a brilliant 2014 after switching from the Brisbane Lions, the fleet-footed Polec managed just five games last season.

He has played just 45 in his career after being taken with pick No.5 in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft by the Lions.

Speaking at Friday night's club annual meeting, Hinkley said he would remain in the coaching seat for the NAB Challenge.

Last pre-season he assigned coaching duties to defence coach Matthew Nicks.
