NORTH Melbourne is poised to select Jed Anderson for his first game with the Kangaroos after crossing from Hawthorn in the off-season.

Coach Brad Scott said he was looking forward to seeing the quick forward, who played 10 games with Hawthorn in three seasons, play for the club.

While Scott didn't guarantee the 22-year-old would be selected against Adelaide he gave every indication that he would pick him.

"The one that stands out is Jed Anderson. He has done everything we have asked of him. He has added a really dynamic element to our forward half and we're looking forward to seeing him play," Scott said on Wednesday morning.

Shaun Higgins (knee) and Robbie Tarrant (back) will be available for selection after missing the final NAB Challenge game with niggling injuries.

Key North pair to prove their fitness

The coach said their availability would make it difficult for young prospects to force their way into the team despite impressing in the pre-season.

Ryan Clarke and Corey Wagner have been the most eye-catching with the duo recruited along with Ben McKay, Mitchell Hibberd and Declan Mountford in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft.

"It is going to be a challenge for those boys to push into our final 22 just based on some of the senior players that are available for selection, but we're really enthusiastic about their future," Scott said.

The Roos will welcome Daniel Wells back into the team for the first time since round two last year but Scott said it would be folly to think the 31-year-old star would be the difference between North being a good team and a genuine contender.

"People who think that one player comes into your team and makes all the difference are delusional," Scott said.

"'Wellsy' is going to play his part…[but] we have to get away from this concept that one player is going to be the missing piece in the puzzle. Our strength is and always has been the strength of the collective."

Scott said the Kangaroos also weren't reliant on ruckman Todd Goldstein, who plays his 150th game on Saturday.

The coach said was rapt with the pre-season of Majak Daw and the opportunity he had given himself with his preparation. He said Drew Petrie and Ben Brown also provided good back-up to Goldstein.

"He's important but we're not just pushing all our chips into the Goldstein corner," Scott said.
