WESTERN Bulldogs defender Matt Suckling has admitted he initially feared he had re-torn the ACL graft in his right knee during Saturday night's win over the Brisbane Lions.

The 27-year-old arrived at scans at Victoria House Medical Centre on Sunday morning in a moon boot after injuring his right reconstructed knee and right ankle during the clash with the Lions.

He has since been cleared of damage to his ACL, but the extent of the damage to other structures is not yet known.

Suckling, who missed Hawthorn's 2013 premiership with a serious knee injury, admitted he feared the worst.

"Yeah, that's the first thing I thought. Anything other than that is a happy result, so I'm in a positive mood," he said.

The ex-Hawk tweaked his right ankle during the Bulldogs' round-four win over Carlton and re-injured it again when he landed awkwardly on Saturday night.

He conceded the injuries would keep him out of Friday night's top of the table clash against an undefeated North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.

"I'm pretty sore. Something pretty special will have to happen [for me to play], I think," Suckling said.

"It probably looks likely I'll miss a couple of weeks."

Suckling is the latest casualty at the Whitten Oval.

Already this season, skipper Bob Murphy has been ruled out for the year after undergoing a knee reconstruction, while speedster Jason Johanissen will be sidelined for 10 weeks with a hamstring injury.

Key forward Tom Boyd missed the win over the Lions with a shoulder injury, further adding to the Bulldogs' injury woes.
