ESSENDON is open to the possibility of trading its first-round draft selection in exchange for an experienced player or more picks at the draft table.

As it stands, the last-placed Bombers would receive the No.1 selection in this year's NAB AFL Draft.

Bombers chief executive Xavier Campbell said the club would explore the option of trading its high-end draft pick to fill its list management needs.

"There will also be opportunities potentially around trading whatever your first pick is," Campbell told the club's website.

"We're open to whatever is the best method to address our needs.

"For us, that could be trading, it could be looking for a more mature player, it could be looking for dual picks – who knows?

"That's something that (list manager) Adrian (Dodoro) and the group continue to work through right now, and I doubt that they'll have a position on that for a couple more months."

Campbell stressed the Bombers would make the best possible decision at the draft table to help fast-track their youngsters' development.

The club chief added greater forward options, a developing ruckman and a running half-back were all high on their list of priorities.

In June, Bombers coach John Worsfold first proposed the idea of trading its top draft pick if it placed the club in a better position.
