DEPARTING Collingwood forward Travis Cloke says he doesn't need to reinvent himself physically as he seeks a trade to the Western Bulldogs.

Cloke, 29, has been criticised by some commentators for being too heavy and not being versatile enough to adapt to the modern game.

He was dropped three times by the Magpies in 2016.

Cloke is expected to join the Bulldogs once NAB AFL Trade Period opens next Monday, with Collingwood to accept a late trade pick.

Cloke said on Tuesday his weight wasn't a concern.

"Everyone this year said I need to lose a few kgs, so if you all (media) want to come to the bathroom and weigh me, that's fine," he said.

"I've dropped (some weight) this year and the stress of footy also adds to it as well.

"I don't see a problem when I'm sitting at 103kg in the middle of an off-season.

"My (skinfolds) were very low this year.

"I don't think [I need to] reinvent myself.

"I've got strengths I need to work to. Obviously my running is one of them, and my marking."

He is contracted to the Pies for 2017 but will sacrifice more than half his earnings to leave for the Dogs on a two-year deal, according to his manager Paul Connors.

Cloke didn't appear overly concerned about having his salary cut.

"It's always a factor, but I'll make the missus get out there and work twice as hard," he said.

"I'm really making this move for myself and my football. I want to enjoy myself."

Rather than worrying about the Dogs being top heavy in attack, Cloke said he could help Dogs key forward Tom Boyd.

The No. 1 selection in the 2013draft  booted three goals and was one of his side's best in the Grand Final victory.

"I've taken a bit of an interest in him in the last few years since he did make the move to the Dogs. A reason why I have chosen the Dogs to go there is I'd love to work with him," Cloke said.

"He's got so much potential and I'd love to help him out where I can.

"I could probably learn a thing or two from him after the weekend."

Cloke hasn't spoken to Dogs coach Luke Beveridge about how he will fit into the Dogs' forward line but expects to have that discussion soon.

"There's been a few texts here and there since he's finished up the game. I'm sure once things get done, we'll sit down and have a chat and work out where I fit best in their football side," he said.

The prospect of joining the premiers had Cloke excited.

"This was the first Grand Final I've watched in a few years, and hopefully I get the call early next week to say it's all been done," he said.
