ADELAIDE will be without Josh Jenkins for another week as he continues to battle a rib injury he suffered in round two.

Jenkins was hospitalised during the Crows' win over Hawthorn at the MCG after a heavy clash, with hopes he would miss little football with the problem.

But Adelaide confirmed on Tuesday that Jenkins would miss at least another week after consulting with a thoracic specialist.

"The injury hasn't settled as quickly as hoped, prompting the club to investigate further this week," the club statement said.

"Consultations with a thoracic specialist revealed Jenkins has significant damage to the costochondral cartilage as well as deep thoracic bruising."

The unbeaten Crows meet Essendon on Saturday night at Adelaide Oval, with no timeframe placed on Jenkins' return.

The club's statement said the 28-year-old "will be a week-to-week proposition thereafter".
