COLLINGWOOD has confirmed injured trio Daniel Wells, Jamie Elliott and Tyson Goldsack will miss Monday's Queen's Birthday clash with Melbourne.

The setbacks are a significant blow to Nathan Buckley's men after a resurgent month that has them on the cusp of the top eight after three straight wins.

Elliott, who has been key to the Pies' climb and has 20 goals in eight games, will spend time in a moon boot after hurting his ankle against Fremantle last Sunday.

The club is yet to set a return date for the important goalkicker, who missed the entire 2016 season with a back injury and injured the same ankle at the start of this year.

Wells, who has played six games since crossing rom North Melbourne, will require scans on his sore calf, while Goldsack has been diagnosed with a cracked scapula and is facing a short period on the sidelines.

"Jamie will be in a boot until probably the end of this week," football manager Geoff Walsh told collingwoodfc.com.au.

"We will then take it out and look at it again over the weekend and probably (by) Tuesday or Wednesday next week we will assess just how much improvement that’s made."

Wells underwent scans on Tuesday, with Walsh forecasting the classy midfielder would be sidelined for the "medium term".

Goldsack's cracked scapula was not separated and the club will assess his range of movement and pain levels after the bye to determine his return date.

The Magpies said midfielder Levi Greenwood would face a fitness test on a corked calf this week, while James Aish was a chance to return from a broken cheekbone.
