PREMIERSHIP Western Bulldogs defender Fletcher Roberts has signed a new deal to keep him contracted at the club until the end of the 2019 season.

Roberts, 24, was dropped from the senior team after the Dogs' loss to Sydney in round 12 and was concussed in the VFL last Saturday night.

"We've been really encouraged by Fletcher's development as a tall defender since he came to us in 2012, particularly the last 12 months," list manager Jason McCartney told westernbulldogs.com.au .

"Fletcher reads the play well and regularly leads the side in one percenters, which is a tribute to how hard he works for his teammates."

Roberts has played 46 matches in his career. He was picked up by the club in the 2011 pre-season draft.

He put pen to paper on a two-year deal comes on the back of fellow key backman Marcus Adams committing to the club until the end of 2020.

Norm Smith medallist Jason Johanissen remains unsigned beyond 2017.
