CARLTON has added more young talent to its list after snaring Matthew Kennedy from Greater Western Sydney on the last day of the 2017 NAB AFL Trade Period.

The Blues' love affair with former Giants continued with the midfielder acquired for pick No.28 at next month's NAB AFL Draft.

In two seasons at GWS, Kennedy was unable to establish himself as a regular in their star-studded onball division, and requested a move to Carlton in search of more opportunities.

He averaged 17.2 possessions and 4.6 tackles in 16 games this season, but was dropped after the Giants' round 21 win over the Western Bulldogs and didn't play at senior level again, missing all three of the club's finals.

The 20-year-old GWS Academy product from Collingullie in country New South Wales was taken with pick No.13 at the 2015 NAB AFL draft, and will add toughness and inside ball-winning ability to Carlton's midfield.

Kennedy played 19 games in his two years in Sydney.
