PORT Adelaide midfielder Jimmy Toumpas has signed a one-year contract extension with the Power for the 2018 season.

The 23-year-old couldn't become a regular part of the side this year, playing just two games and spending the majority of the season in the SANFL.

Toumpas has played 37 career games since he was the fourth overall pick by Melbourne in the 2012 NAB AFL Draft.

He played 27 games in three seasons for the Demons before the South Australian was traded to the Power at the end of 2015.

Toumpas has played 10 games in his two seasons with the Power.

The Power have also re-signed rookie-listed players Will Snelling, Peter Ladhams, Jarrod Lienert, Cam Hewett and Emmanuel Irra.

Snelling and Hewett joined the Power in the 2016 NAB AFL Rookie Draft and provide midfield depth.

Ladhams, 19, is a 203cm ruckman who showed plenty of promise in the SANFL this year after arriving at the Power in the 2016 rookie draft.

The Power picked up 23-year-old Lienert in the same rookie draft after he played a key role for Sturt in last year's SANFL premiership triumph.

The key defender played well in the SANFL this year and was promoted to the Power's senior list at the end of the season.

Irra arrived at the start of this year as a Category B rookie from the Power's next generation academy zone.

The Ugandan-born half-back flanker improved as the season went on in the SANFL after joining the Power from South Adelaide.
