RICHMOND had the luxury of easing premiership midfielder Dion Prestia back into the senior line-up during its 93-point smashing of Brisbane on Saturday.

Prestia missed the first three games of the season with hamstring and glute injuries, but said he pulled up well from his first AFL match of the year.

"I'm feeling really good. I got managed a bit to get through the game, started the quarters on the bench and that," Prestia told AFL.com.au

"I didn't cramp at all and thought I might, so that was really good."

Prestia played just 77 minutes of the match and finished with 23 disposals and an equal game-high seven clearances (along with Lions ruckman Stefan Martin). By comparison, fellow midfielder Shaun Grigg played 94 minutes and had 26 touches.

The 25-year-old is no stranger to sitting on the sidelines, managing 22 games across his final two seasons at Gold Coast with serious knee injuries, before crossing to Richmond at the end of 2016.

"You do get frustrated not being able to play. But looking at it in a positive way, hopefully I build my season up after missing the first three.

"I think we're in a good position at the moment, being three [wins] and one [loss]. You want to play the first couple of games but it's a long season and I've missed plenty of footy before, so as long as I'm there if we're playing on Grand Final day, that'd be good."

Brisbane didn't score a goal until the 27-minute mark of the third term and only kicked two for the match.

It was a four-quarter performance from the Tigers, who have been inconsistent at times this season.

"The way we defended and set up the ground had something to do with [Brisbane's scoring]," Prestia said.

"They didn't kick a goal in the first half which was awesome for us. We probably got back to what we were doing really well last year in our defensive pressure.

"The way we were setting up the ground was back to where we wanted it to be."
