RHYS Stanley has earned a reprieve for Friday night's clash with Greater Western Sydney at GMHBA Stadium, with Zac Smith a late withdrawal because of a back complaint.

Stanley was widely criticised for his performance in last Saturday's game against Sydney, with opposition ruckman Callum Sinclair having a significant influence in the Swans' 17-point win.

Cats coach Chris Scott said after last week's game that the club's ruckmen – referring to Stanley and Smith – were not performing to the level required.

Cats stars Joel Selwood and Patrick Dangerfield will play despite being sore in recent weeks.

Stanley will do battle with Jonathon Patton and Lachie Keeffe in the ruck, with forward Esava Ratugolea to provide support as well.

The Giants will go into the match against the Cats as selected, with Jeremy Cameron (toe) and Brett Deledio (hamstring soreness) key omissions from last week's win over Brisbane.
