TOUGH St Kilda forward Mav Weller is set to miss Saturday afternoon's clash with Richmond at the MCG after suffering concussion at training.

However, the Saints have received a boost with Jake Carlisle and Paddy McCartin passed fit after their own concussion troubles.

Weller copped a head knock in match simulation at RSEA Park on Thursday.

St Kilda is hopeful he will be fit the following week to face West Coast at Optus Stadium.

Carlisle looms as the logical replacement for Nathan Brown, who will miss about a month after hurting his right knee in last Saturday's loss to Collingwood.

McCartin has missed the past two games after being concussed in round seven against Richmond.

There were two head-related incidents that gave him trouble in that match. The 22-year-old passed the concussion test after clashing heads with Neville Jetta in the second term but a whiplash incident later in a contest with James Harmes caused the No.1 pick from 2014 to experience nausea and fogginess.
