RICHMOND has suffered a blow ahead of its blockbuster clash against Geelong with defender David Astbury withdrawing from the side through injury.

Astbury hurt his ankle in last week's loss to Port Adelaide and failed to recover in time for Sunday's match at the MCG.

Ryan Garthwaite comes into the side to make his debut. The 19-year-old was taken with pick No.72 in the NAB AFL Draft.

Anthony Miles has been added to the emergency list, along with Jacob Townsend, who replaced Ivan Soldo as one of the original four emergencies.
