THERE was drama at the MCG in the minutes prior to Carlton's clash with Collingwood, with Blues forward Levi Casboult breaking his finger during the warm-up.

Casboult immediately left the field, with the Blues making the decision to replace him in the selected side with defender Cameron O'Shea.

However, O'Shea was in the stands as the game commenced and was forced to quickly hurry to the bench, not appearing from the race until the ninth minute.

The confusion had an immediate impact on Carlton's rotations, with Blues players running to the bench – only to be told to return to the field – multiple times in the opening stages of the game.

O'Shea was the only emergency to have been held back from Carlton's VFL clash with Collingwood earlier in the day.

The Pies initially made one enforced change for the match, with young defender Flynn Appleby replacing the injured Daniel Wells.
