ADELAIDE utility David Mackay has been ruled out of Friday night's clash with Richmond with a rib injury, but forward Tom Lynch is on track to face the Tigers at the MCG.

Mackay – who has played on the wing and across half-back this season – will be sidelined for four weeks with rib cartilage damage sustained in last Saturday's 10-point win against West Coast.

In better news, Lynch is progressing well after he was concussed at training last Wednesday, while experienced midfielder Sam Gibson (hamstring) should also be available to take on the Tigers.

Forward Riley Knight (hamstring) will likely play in the SANFL if he's cleared to make his long-awaited return.

However, big-bodied midfielder Cam Ellis-Yolmen will miss another week with a quad injury, while swingman Andy Otten will be out for at least a fortnight with Achilles soreness.

Mackay, 29, was scheduled to play his 200th game for the Crows in next Thursday night's round 17 clash with Geelong.

But those celebrations have been put on the backburner after copping a heavy knock in the win over the Eagles.

"He's got rib cartilage damage, so that looks to be about a month depending on how he progresses with training and treatment," Crows general manager of high performance Matt Hass said.

Lynch hasn't played since sustaining a side strain in the Crows' round 11 loss to Greater Western Sydney.

The 27-year-old was due to return last weekend until he suffered a head knock near the end of training last Wednesday.

"'Lynchy' had some mild concussion, he has progressed really well, he will train with the group tomorrow and we expect him to play," Hass said.

Draftee Andrew McPherson will be sidelined for an extended period with a hamstring injury sustained in the Crows' SANFL game against Sturt last Sunday, while rookie Jackson Edwards will miss a month with a sprained ankle.
