INJURY-PRONE Collingwood defender Darcy Moore has been cleared of serious damage to his right hamstring, but faces an uphill battle to play again before finals.

Moore has played just seven matches this year, missing rounds three to six, nine to 16 and 18 with injuries to his left hamstring.

The club's general manager of football Geoff Walsh said the right hamstring strain does not mean Moore's season is over.

"The significance of the injury being in the right leg is that it is not related to Darcy's recent history," Walsh said.

"It is a new injury, to the opposite leg Darcy has recently had issues with, which means that it can be treated as a standard hamstring strain.

"Darcy will now get into his rehabilitation program and look to be back before our season concludes."

The 22-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season.

Fellow defender Jeremy Howe is a chance to return from concussion for the Magpies' Saturday night clash against Brisbane at Etihad Stadium.

Collingwood's final two home and away matches are against Port Adelaide (MCG) and Fremantle (Optus Stadium).
