Jarryd Lyons will significantly boost Brisbane's midfield group

BRISBANE has confirmed the signature of delisted free agent Jarryd Lyons.

As reported first by AFL.com.au on Wednesday, Lyons heads north to Brisbane after two seasons with Gold Coast on what is believed to be a three-year contract.

Lyons played 37 games with the Suns and has played 92 overall following five seasons with Adelaide.

In a statement released on Thursday, Brisbane said Lyons fits perfectly with its strategy of acquiring players in the 23-26-year bracket.

The Lions believe the 26-year-old can help grow their midfield and assist young players with their game.

Lyons averaged 25 disposals over 19 games in 2018.

"To be able to land a player of Jarryd's status to our group post the trade period is a great credit to our club," general manager of football David Noble said.

"Jarryd brings a level of maturity in his game to our club that will complement what we are putting together both in the midfield and forward lines.

"He certainly fits the strategy we have executed in the last 12 months of age and culture fit."

Lyons' younger brother Corey is about to enter his third season with Brisbane.
