AN EMOTIONAL Jack Watts has opened up about the toll his controversial pre-season had on him, revealing there were weeks he didn't want to leave bed.

Video emerged in February of Watts snorting a white powder known as Wiesn Pulver off a woman's chest at last year's Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany.

Watts was speaking to Fox Footy after Port Adelaide pulled off a surprise 26-point win over Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.

"It's just pure relief. I had weeks where I didn't want to get out of bed. I've never experienced anything like that," Watts said.

"I copped more shit from people saying that I'm no good at footy for 1000 years compared to what I've been through the last few months."

Watts, who turns 28 on Tuesday, has been a lightning rod for criticism for much of his career, which began when he was drafted by Melbourne with the first overall selection in 2008.

He was traded by the Demons at the end of 2017 despite having two years to run on his contract in a move instigated by the club.

"It was a really tough few months to be honest. Coming up against your old mob too. Some of my best mates are there," Watts said.

"After those last few months, this day's just incredible. What a fight by the boys."
