COLLINGWOOD wingman Tom Phillips has inked a two-year deal, keeping him contracted until the end of 2021.

Defender Brayden Maynard, who had been signed up for next season, has also added a further two to his deal.

He is now committed to the Magpies until the end of 2022.

Phillips is averaging 25 disposals this season.

A running machine, the 23-year-old has become an important part of the Pies' powerful midfield unit.

Maynard, 22, has similarly grown in stature. The fiery backman has lined up in at least 20 games over each of the past three seasons and is on track to do so again, having played every match this campaign.

Collingwood list manager Ned Guy envisages the pair as future leaders.

"The longer-term future of the team sits, in part, with the players we have on our list who are 20-25 years of age, who have established themselves as AFL level players and have their prime years ahead. Brayden and Tom definitely fit into this category," Guy told collingwoodfc.com.au.

"It is clear that they already have important roles to play for us, but casting forward we hope that Tom and Brayden, and others of their age and experience, make their mark as leaders and as cornerstone players of the program."
