CYRIL Rioli's 10-disposal game last week got Hawthorn across the line against Collingwood but Fremantle coach Ross Lyon will be happy if his side holds the star Hawk to that number again.

Rioli kicked five goals from his 10 touches and was described by many judges as the difference in the Hawks' 10-point win.

But Lyon said he hadn't given too much thought to containing Rioli and said he would be very pleased if the dynamic small forward had so few possessions.

Match preview: Hawks v Dockers

"I'd be happy if he has 10," Lyon said on Friday.

"I haven't thought about him, to be honest. I just see him as another one of them. We know he's talented and does the freakish. But you can't stop the freakish, can you? So (we need to) defend him, do the basics well. No more or less focus will go on to him or their other great players."

The Hawks will be without Jarryd Roughead for the second week in a row as the forward recovers from surgery to remove a melanoma from his lip. The Dockers have only beaten Hawthorn once under Lyon and it was when Roughead did not play, in round 21 last season.

The Hawks' small forwards did the damage against the Magpies last week with Rioli, Luke Breust and Liam Shiels kicking 10 of the Hawks' 15 goals between them.

But Lyon said he still needed to be wary of Hawthorn's tall options.

"They've got (Ryan) Schoenmakers, (Jack) Gunston, and (Matt) Spangher can go down there. We're going to pick a defence that can cope with three or four talls or smalls. That's the business. You need flexibility. You're never going to get perfect matches. But as always, if we don't put pressure up the field, they're very good with the ball in hand. We know they're a real offensive threat."

The Dockers are likely to fly 24 or 25 players to Launceston to give them flexibility, but Lyon dismissed questions about Stephen Hill's fitness.

The wingman only trained lightly on Wednesday but Lyon said he was just being managed after a taxing game last weekend.

"Some of them end up a bit sorer. It was a heavy game (against Brisbane in the wet)," Lyon said.

"We'll just freshen him a little bit. He's fine."

Wet weather is forecast in Launceston over the next few days and Lyon said the Dockers should be able to cope with anything, given the weather they have endured over the last month.

But he said it was unlikely he would change the structure of his side dramatically if the wet weather rolled in.

"I don't know what it's going to be like down there," Lyon said.

"We tend to sub off during (the game). (Matt) Taberner hasn't been doing much wrong. Halfway through the third we just bring some run on.

"We like the taller forward structure. It's certainly not a huge issue for us.

"We like to play in all conditions with the same sort of team because that's what you need to be able to do. But we're certainly not obstinate about it either. If we got down there and it's drenched and slippery we might look at it but not at this point."
