DEPARTING AFL great Kevin Sheedy will have an official role on Grand Final day, presenting the Jock McHale Medal to the winning coach.

Sheedy, who coached his 679th and final game on Sunday, was among the Grand Final presenters announced by the AFL at the official launch of the 2013 finals series on Monday morning.

Champion midfielder Greg Williams, who won the Norm Smith Medal in Carlton's 1995 premiership, will present the award to the player judged best afield.

And North Melbourne champion Malcolm Blight, who led the League's goalkicking in 1982, will present Jarryd Roughead with his Coleman Medal on Grand Final day.

Williams, who played 250 games for Geelong, the Sydney Swans and Carlton, said he was pleased all three clubs he represented were involved in the finals this year.

"I think Geelong are a huge chance to win, and I wouldn't like to be playing the Swans either, they're such a great side and hard to beat," he said.

"(Carlton coach) Mick Malthouse has timed his run beautifully and who knows what damage the Blues can do.

"I'm very excited about the finals coming up and I'm looking forward to the Grand Final."

Reflecting on 1995, Williams said the entire finals series was a nervous time for him.

"I was coming to the end and it was my last chance to win a flag," he said.

"We obviously won the Grand Final, and to be best on ground and kick five goals, it was on my birthday, it doesn't get much better.

"I remember it well."
