COLLINGWOOD captain Scott Pendlebury has failed to train on Tuesday, but the Magpies insist he will take his place in this Saturday night's clash with Geelong at the MCG.

Instead, Pendlebury spent time in the gym to take weight off the ankle on which he had "precautionary scans" on Monday.

"Pendlebury got a knock to his lower leg which pushed his ankle over a little bit. His ankle seems ok, but (the scan) was more precautionary," Collingwood football manager Rodney Eade said on Monday.

The Pies skipper was outstanding in the club's gritty 20-point win against the Sydney Swans on Saturday night, leading from the front with 33 possessions, 10 marks and nine clearances.

Young defender Jack Frost, who did a sterling job of limiting Lance Franklin, was limited to walking laps but he will be fine to play against the Cats.

Despite questions over Dane Swan's fitness, Magpies coach Nathan Buckley assured fans on Fox Footy's On The Couch program on Monday night he was not injured.

Swan took part in full training at Olympic Park Oval on Tuesday morning, which included a ball-movement drill and specific skill-based activities.

Injuries to Nathan Brown (shoulder) and Ben Sinclair (hamstring) mean the Magpies will need to make two forced changes this week.

Alex Fasolo, who is the frame to replace Sinclair in the small defender's role, has adapted to a new position off half-back in the VFL in recent weeks.

Marley Williams, who is not available for selection until he is sentenced for a grievous bodily harm charge in a Perth Court next month, also trained well.

Patrick Karnezis (osteitis pubis) and Paul Seedsman (hip) joined in some select drills at training, and continued their rehab as they increase their running in the hope of returning within a month.
