GOLD Coast midfielder Andrew Boston is out of the Suns' round one clash with Richmond, replaced by Timmy Sumner.

The Suns revised their team on Friday morning, moving Boston to one of the three emergency spots after he was initially named on the interchange bench.

Boston was elevated from the rookie list earlier this week after ruckman Zac Smith was placed on the long-term injury list as he recovers from a knee reconstruction.

Sumner played 11 games in his first season and showed plenty of promise as an athletic forward.

He was recruited with pick No.55 in the 2012 NAB AFL Draft.
