The AFL wishes to advise the Tribunal will sit at 5pm tonight, Tuesday August 5, after the Geelong Cats’ Steve Johnson chose to contest the charge laid against him by the Match Review Panel from Round 19. Please also find below the detail of those sanctions accepted:

AFL Tribunal, 5pm, Tuesday August 5:

Steve Johnson, Geelong Cats, has been charged with a Level One Misconduct (kneeing) Offence for Kneeing Scott Thompson, North Melbourne, during the first quarter of the Round 19 match between the Geelong Cats and North Melbourne, played at Etihad Stadium on Saturday August 2, 2014.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the North Melbourne Football Club, the incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One Offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has an existing bad record of six matches suspended within the last two years, increasing the penalty by 40 per cent to 175 demerit points and a one-match suspension. He also has 75.71 demerit points carried over from within the last 12 months, increasing the penalty to 250.71 points and a two-match sanction.

Nick Graham, Carlton, has accepted a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record for engaging in rough conduct against Ryan Crowley, Fremantle, during the third quarter of the Round 19 match between Carlton and Fremantle, played at Patersons Stadium on Thursday July 31, 2014.

Dyson Heppell, Essendon, has accepted a $900 sanction for making negligent contact with umpire Ray Chamberlain during  the second quarter of the Round 19 match between Essendon and the Sydney Swans, played at the SCG on Friday August 1, 2014.

Bachar Houli, Richmond, has accepted a $900 sanction for wrestling Rhys Palmer, GWS Giants, during the first quarter of the Round 19 match between Richmond and the GWS Giants, played at the MCG on Saturday August 2, 2014.

Rhys Palmer, GWS Giants, has accepted a $900 sanction for wrestling Bachar Houli, Richmond, during the first quarter of the Round 19 match between the GWS Giants and Richmond, played at the MCG on Saturday August 2, 2014.

Reece Conca, Richmond, has accepted a two-match sanction for striking Devon Smith, GWS Giants, during the second quarter of the Round 19 match between Richmond and the GWS Giants, played at the MCG on Saturday August 2, 2014.

Jack Newnes, St Kilda, has accepted a $900 sanction for wrestling Tom Lynch, Gold Coast Suns, during the first quarter of the Round 19 match between St Kilda and the Gold Coast Suns, played at Metricon Stadium on Saturday August 2, 2014.
