The AFL today confirmed the fixture for weeks two and three of the 2013 Toyota AFL Finals Series, to be as follows (all times are local):

Friday September 13
Second Semi Final, Geelong Cats v Port Adelaide at the MCG, 7.50pm (series ticket match)

Saturday September 14
First Semi Final, Sydney Swans v Carlton at ANZ Stadium, 7.45pm

Friday September 20
First Preliminary Final, Hawthorn v Winner of Second Semi Final at the MCG, 7.50pm (series ticket match)

Saturday September 21
Second Preliminary Final, Fremantle v Winner of First Semi Final at Patersons Stadium, time tbc

AFL Chief Executive Officer Andrew Demetriou said the AFL had determined that Hawthorn, as the leading side at the end of the home and away season and having won its first final, had earned the right to have its preliminary final played on Friday September 20.

Mr Demetriou said the structure to place the Second Semi Final on Friday September 13 and the First Semi Final Final on Saturday September 14 enabled the two winners of both of those matches to have a seven-day break before their preliminary finals against Hawthorn and Fremantle respectively the following week.

The match at the MCG in weeks two and three will be the series ticket game for each week of the finals.

Mr Demetriou said the AFL had not considered the Geelong Cats v Port Adelaide match at any venue other than the MCG, as Simonds Stadium was used in week one of the finals after the AFL had explored and then dismissed the option of playing all four week one matches at the MCG.
