HAYDEN Ballantyne, one of the serial pests of the AFL, is likely to miss Fremantle's round two clash with the Western Bulldogs after being slapped with a one-match suspension by the Match Review Panel.

However, captain Matthew Pavlich is free to face the Dogs after being cleared of a match day report for rough conduct against West Coast's Will Schofield.

Ballantyne has been charged with a level one rough conduct offence for his actions against West Coast's Scott Selwood on Saturday night at Patersons Stadium.

The incident took place in the first quarter of Fremantle's 28-point win, with video evidence and a medical report from the Eagles used in the assessment.

His charge has incurred a penalty of 125 demerit points, and given the small forward's poor record, his one-match sanction cannot be reduced with an early guilty plea.

Fremantle will have to win the case or reduce the grading of the offence at the tribunal if Ballantyne is to face the Bulldogs on April 6 at Etihad Stadium.

Ballantyne's record includes three matches suspended within the past two years, plus 33.13 points carried through from within the last year.

Meanwhile, Pavlich's actions against Schofield from the second quarter of the Derby were dubbed as legal by the match review panel.

It was found that Pavlich braced for contact when he realised he would not be able to mark the ball, and contact with Schofield occurred.

The panel viewed the footage and spoke to the reporting umpire when considering the case.
