PORT Adelaide will be without Hamish Hartlett for the rest of the home and away season, after the young gun reluctantly accepted a two-match sanction for rough conduct on Tuesday.

Hartlett was charged by the Match Review Panel on Monday over a bump on Gold Coast's Seb Tape during the Power's 17-point win at AAMI Stadium on Saturday.

The incident was assessed as negligent, high impact and high contact – a three-week sanction without an early guilty plea – meaning Hartlett would have risked missing the first week of the finals had he decided to take his case to the AFL Tribunal.

Instead, he will now sit out the final two rounds of the year and hope his teammates can do enough for Port Adelaide to hold its spot in the final eight.

Hartlett tweeted on Tuesday morning:

The only other player suspended after round 21 was Brisbane Lions champion Simon Black, who has accepted a one-match sanction for striking Greater Western Sydney midfielder Callan Ward.

West Coast pair Scott Selwood and Dean Cox have both accepted reprimands, for tripping and striking respectively.

The tribunal will therefore not sit on Tuesday afternoon.

Port Adelaide faces Fremantle in Perth this week, before returning to AAMI Stadium in round 23 for what could be a match to decide eighth place.
