THE AFL won't entertain moving Friday night's top of the table clash between Geelong and Essendon from Etihad Stadium to the MCG.

After the Cats' win over Richmond and the Bombers' over Greater Western Sydney, Friday night's blockbuster will be between two unbeaten sides that lead the competition.

AFL spokesman Patrick Keane said moving the game, which had been suggested by various media outlets on Saturday, would not be considered.

"Basically we haven't moved games because of the last two broadcast agreements," Keane told AFL.com.au.

"We have fixture agreements with each of our venues, which guarantees them a number of games, and obviously once games are locked in with reserve ticket sales, we commit to the venue."

When these two sides faced off at Etihad Stadium in round 17 last year, a crowd of 50,066 assembled – the biggest at the venue in 2012.

The game has been upgraded to a fully ticketed match.
