A HOST of big names are set to return to bolster their sides in round two, headlined by Cyril Rioli, Kieren Jack and Ryan Griffen as well as St Kilda duo Lenny Hayes and Leigh Montagna.

The Hawks will welcome back Rioli for Friday night's blockbuster clash with Essendon at Etihad Stadium, following a one-match suspension for a 'chicken wing' tackle in last year's Grand Final.

Jack retuns to the side after being desperately missed in the Swans' shock loss to Greater Western Sydney in round one with a back problem, while Griffen has been named on an extended bench for the Western Bulldogs' match-up with North Melbourne.

Montagna and Hayes are the other big inclusions, both returning from suspension after missing last week's crucial win over Melbourne.

North Melbourne ruckman Daniel Currie is in line to make his debut, named to take on the Bulldogs on Sunday, albeit on an extended bench, after seven years on AFL lists.

The Bombers are unchanged for Friday night's face-off against the Hawks, while youngster Derick Wanganeen makes way for Rioli.

Greater Western Sydney has made three forced changes to the team which accounted for the Sydney Swans in round one, with Rhys Palmer (hamstring), Phil Davis (kidney) and Dylan Shiel (quad) all to miss the clash against the Saints.

Youngsters Jacob Townsend and Lachlan Plowman earn a recall for the Giants, while Josh Kelly, the No. 2 pick in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft, has been named to debut.

Jimmy Webster (groin) and Jack Billings make way for elder statesman Hayes and Montagna at St Kilda

Adelaide has two key inclusions for the showpiece Showdown against Port Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday night, with the Crows picking Brent Reilly and Richard Douglas to play their first games of the year.

The Power welcome back key defender Alipate Carlile for the clash against the Crows.

Alongside captain Jack, the Swans have handed former Richmond big man Tom Derickx a guernsey for its clash with Collingwood at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night. Lewis Roberts-Thomson (groin) and the omitted Jeremy Laidler make way for the pair, meaning veteran Ryan O'Keefe retains his place in the side.

Jesse White will play his first AFL game for the Magpies against his former side, while Jarryd Blair is the other inclusion after impressing in the VFL last weekend.

Important Gold Coast defender Rory Thompson returns for the clash against Fremantle, while Kade Kolodjashnij makes his AFL debut for the Suns.

Nick Suban returns for the Dockers after missing the opening round with suspension from the Grand Final, at the expense of Lachie Neale.

Brisbane Lions vice-captain Tom Rockliff misses the clash with Geelong on Sunday through suspension, while Ryan Harwood (shoulder) is also out.

Jordan Lisle, Rohan Bewick, Jackson Paine, Jack Crisp and Nick Robertson are all in line to play for the Lions, while Jackson Sheringham, Josh Walker and George Horlin-Smith have been named on an extended bench for the Cats.

At Melbourne, Sam Blease, Dean Kent and Michael Evans are all possibilities to return for the club's match against West Coast at the MCG on Sunday.

Eagles draftee Dom Sheed has been omitted, with Josh Hill, Brad Sheppard, Scott Lycett and Brant Colledge in the mix to take his spot.

Veteran Brett Goodes has been excluded from the Bulldogs' team that will take on the Kangaroos on Sunday evening, with Griffen, Liam Jones, Tom Young and Lin Jong in line to replace him.

Currie, Levi Greenwood and Ben Jacobs are in North Melbourne's extended squad.
