Watch Ben Reid speak to CTV in the MCG rooms after the draw.

With no winner emerging from the round 12 Queen’s Birthday encounter, the feelings were fairly mixed in Collingwood’s rooms after the match.

Magpie defender Ben Reid believed his side had plenty of opportunities to secure the four points but were unable to capitalise when the ball was in their forward half.??

“There are a few mixed emotions, probably more down than up at the moment,” Reid told CTV in the MCG rooms.??

“It was really disappointing to come out with a draw.  It felt like we had the ball in our forward 50 for the last five minutes and we were just unlucky not to get a goal.”??

The 21-year-old was conscious of the scoreboard late in the final term and tried to send the ball forward with every opportunity.??

“You are aware of the score but not the time.  You just try to get the ball forward as quickly as you can and try to get a late goal and get over the line, which unfortunately we weren’t able to do.??

“We had our opportunities.  We don’t take it as a loss but it’s still disappointing that we couldn’t come away with the four points.”??

In his ninth game this season, Reid lined up against Demon Jack Watts, the number one pick in the 2008 AFL draft.  It was the second time these two players faced off this year with the first match up occurring in round two of the VFL when Reid held Watts goalless.

Watch Mick Malthouse address the media after the draw.

“It gave me a bit of confidence to have played on him in the past.  Knowing that you have had success against a player in a previous encounter does provide you with a certain level of confidence.”

Reid had a career-high number of disposals (22) on Monday afternoon while using the ball with 86% efficiency, fourth-highest for his side.??

“It was good to get a bit of the ball.  However it is still disappointing to not get the win.  You would take ten touches and get a win than how many I had today and take a draw.”??

The club now enters its portion of the split round before traveling to Sydney in two weeks.

"The body is not too bad after nine games.  I am looking forward to taking a week off and refreshing for the second half of the season.??

“We have a bit to work on now going into the break and we will be better for it.”
