It‘s already been a massive week for the North Melbourne Football Club and the good news continues to stream out of Aegis Park with Levi Greenwood putting pen to paper on a new deal.

The long term contract signed on Thursday puts the 22-year-old out of Greater Western Sydney’s reach and he says the club’s premiership prospects are what ultimately convinced him to stay.

"That's the goal, that's what Brad (Scott) is looking for and that's what we want before 'Boomer' (Brent Harvey) retires," Greenwood told the Herald Sun’s Jay Clark.

"There is a lot of young guys coming through together and you can see the boys are improving every week.

"We wouldn't want to be anywhere else. We're enjoying our footy and the direction the club is heading. It is just good to get it (contract) done and get it out of the way and not have to worry about it."

The 30-gamer had a career best game against Melbourne in Round 22 last year with 39 possessions.

Injured early in the year, Greenwood has given North’s young midfield brigade a massive boost since returning.

“Our last few weeks, there have been some great indicators in terms of our contested footy and clearances,” Greenwood said.

“We just weren’t getting over the line earlier on in the season but it was good to turn that around at the weekend and really bury a side.’’
