WEST Coast forward Mark Nicoski has signed a one-year contract extension as he seeks to rebound from the serious hamstring injury that ruined his 2012 season.

Nicoski, who agreed to terms last Friday, never considered leaving the Eagles through free agency and will become a 10-year player next season.

Nicoski was an unrestricted free agent and could have left the Eagles to join a club of his choice.

The 28-year-old didn't play a game in 2012, first injuring his hamstring in the NAB Cup Grand Final and then suffering a series of setbacks and complications in his recovery.

He is on track, however, to start pre-season training in November with a view to rediscovering the career-best football that saw him kick 41 goals in an outstanding 2011 campaign.

West Coast list manager Craig Vozzo said the club was confident Nicoski could reproduce that football in 2013.

"We're delighted we've signed Mark for another year," Vozzo told AFL.com.au.

"He had an outstanding 2011 and we were all really upset with the hamstring injury that occurred at the beginning of this season.

"But we're very confident he's going to come back strong and have a real impact next year.

"He's getting stronger and more confident in [his hamstring] and we're confident that he'll have a very good pre-season and set himself up for a really strong 2013."

The Eagles remain in talks with St Kilda to secure versatile half forward Jamie Cripps via a trade, but there has been no progression in those discussions this week.

The Saints have indicated to West Coast they would accept only key defender Mitch Brown in a trade for the 20-year-old Cripps, who wants to return to WA.

However, Vozzo has said Brown, 23, would not be traded under any circumstances.

The Eagles are also trying to find a new home for midfielder Koby Stevens, but a deal is yet to be struck with his nominated club, the Western Bulldogs.
