THE COMPETITION for spots in Geelong's team are heating up and it's bound to get even harder to lock down a position with stars Paul Chapman and Allen Christensen to return via the VFL on Sunday.

Chapman has not played at any level since injuring his hamstring in round four against the Sydney Swans, while Christensen has finally ridded himself of the hamstring soreness he has been experiencing for the past month.

The duo will be joined by defender Jared Rivers, who is due to play his fourth game back in the VFL as he looks to return from two significant knee injuries.

They join the desperately unlucky pair George Horlin-Smith and Mitch Brown, who were omitted to make way for the returning Jimmy Bartel and Josh Hunt in the senior line-up.

Hamish McIntosh, who has not played a game this season, could also be nearing a return ahead of schedule after undergoing recent ankle surgery.

The first-placed Cats VFL team faces the second-placed Casey Scorpions in a top of the table clash at Casey Fields on Sunday from 2pm.
