Skipper Cameron Ling and Norm smith medallist Paul Chapman both starred in the VFL practice match against North Ballarat.

Ling had 38 possessions and Chapman 30 as the Cats defeated the reigning VFL premier by 46 points.

Ling hadn’t played at VFL level since 2001 and Chapman since 2002, and as would be expected they were the class players in the game. Most importantly they played the game out strongly and appear ready to return to AFL level to face Fremantle at Subiaco next Saturday.

“They both played well and got through the game without any issues,” Cats VFL football manager Ben Waller told geelongcats.com.au

“They seemed to enjoy the day and the young players clearly relished the opportunity to play with them.”

Both players had injury interrupted preseason campaigns, Ling with a hamstring and Chapman with groin soreness. Both now though appear ready to return at full fitness.
