Sydney coach Paul Roos has distanced himself from rumours that Hawthorn's Peter Everitt has already agreed to terms to join the club next year.

Reports on the weekend linked 'Spida' to the premiers in a two-year deal worth $700,000, as opposed to the one-year offered by the Hawks.

"We really haven't discussed Peter because, to my knowledge just reading through the papers, I believe he agreed to a 12-month deal with Hawthorn and was going to sort out the rest after that," Roos said prior to training on Tuesday.

"He has been pretty honest that he wants to nut out a two-year deal with Hawthorn. At this stage they have come up with a one-year deal which doesn't seem acceptable to him and I am expecting they will probably offer him another year and it will be a two-year deal.

"If we knew he was going to be available we would definitely sit down amongst the coaching staff and leadership group.

"But until you are aware that someone is available or not you don't really discuss them, so until the point that his name comes out as a possible trade, at that particular stage I think we would discuss it."

'Spida' indicated he wanted to be traded to the Harbour City at the end of last season and the Swans were keen to find a replacement for the retired Jason Ball.

However the clubs couldn't make the deal happen and the Swans traded for Geelong ruckman Paul Chambers with the injury-prone Stephen Doyle also fighting for the back-up role.

Roos admits he is happy with the status quo - despite the current injury to both back-up ruckmen - but won't rule out any future moves to obtain another ruckman.

"To be an absolute premiership side you need two ruckmen so if we can get Chambo or Doyley up then I think we have still got two ruckmen, but it has been a bit of a challenge over the last couple of weeks given the fact both our back-up ruckmen have been injured," he said.

"Are we at the moment saying we need a ruckman? Probably not because we already have Jolly, Chambers and Doyle but things can change because we are not sure what is going to happen now and the end of the season."
