After coming agonising close on a couple of occasions already in 2011, Lions Senior Coach Michael Voss says it's time his players were rewarded for their efforts with a win this Thursday night.

But the Lions will be coming up against a fired up St Kilda side, who themselves remain winless from three matches after playing off in two Grand Finals last year.

The task will be a difficult one, but Voss is confident that his team are well prepared for the challenge.

"We haven't got a 'W' next to our name yet, but our competitive instincts have been right up there," Voss said on Wednesday.

"I'm more than content with our effort, and that's why it's been so gut-wretching not to have gotten a win on the board."

"We've put in two honest performances and one we're not too proud of,which is not unlike St Kilda," he said.

"But while all the talk has been about St Kilda, we want to get a win ourselves and the players are certainly determined to do all they can to achieve that."

The Saints have received a great deal of media attention over the past two weeks surrounding their apparent 'fall from grace', but the Lions certainly won't be reading too much into the argument.

"There's been a fair bit of talk about what sort of pressure they're under," Voss said.

"For us, it doesn't change a thing. We expect it to be a huge game. It's Easter Thursday, we're in front of our home crowd, and it's a big game for us in the context of our season."

"St Kilda will hurt you if you underestimate them. We always respect our opponents and where they've been and what they've done. And they've been up there as one of the best teams of the last 3-4 years."

"I imagine it will be a pretty physical clash."

The Lions will be forced to make at least one change to the senior side this afternoon with Ryan Lester suffering a foot injury in their last outing against Melbourne in Round 3.

Yet Voss is keeping his cards close to his chest with regards to the final team set-up.

"We might have some surprises in store, but I won't be divulging them publicly 24 hours before the match," he said.

"But we think we have the cattle to do some damage on the weekend."

"We're back playing at our home ground and we need our fans to get out here and make it tough as tough as possible for the opposition."

Among the hype surrounding the Easter Thursday clash is a small - but significant - milestone for Voss who will take his position in the coaching box for the 50th time in an official match.

Voss, who actually wasn't aware of the impending milestone until today, will become just the 18th coach in Club history to reach 50 games as Senior Coach.

"I only put two and two together when I realised it was Daniel Rich's 50thgame. He's played every game since his debut and I've coached Richy in every one of his games," Voss said.

"It's something I really don't think about at all. I can assure you it will feel a whole lot better if we can walk off with the four points."

"As a coach, I think these milestones are pretty irrelevant, they certainly have more value as a player."
