Carlton have named their top five greatest players of all time
CARLTON Football Club has announced the top five players in its 150-year history – in alphabetical order, Bruce Doull, Alex Jesaulenko, Stephen Kernahan, John Nicholls and Stephen Silvagni.
The best five will be confirmed, in numerical order, at a gala event to mark the 150th anniversary at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday night.
In a special feature to mark the milestone, the AFL Record profiles the top five and provides a comprehensive overview of the Blues' history.
Among the 150 'Champions of Carlton' are eight current Blues – Marc Murphy, Chris Judd, Andrew Carrazzo, Kade Simpson, Bryce Gibbs, Jarrad Waite, Andrew Walker and Matthew Kreuzer – along with the recently retired Heath Scotland and Eddie Betts, who is now with Adelaide.
The selection panel included club greats Ken Hands, Ian Collins, David McKay and Adrian Gleeson, along with club historian Tony De Bolfo.
To be eligible for selection, players must have taken part in a minimum of 50 matches over five seasons for the Blues.
