FORWARD Taylor Walker is back in Adelaide and continuing his rehabilitation after taking some time out at home in Broken Hill.

Walker started walking and jogging at West Lakes late in the season and club physio Mark Nagel said he hadn't missed a beat.

Walker isn't expected back at training officially until November 18.

While in Broken Hill, 'Tex' played his part in helping his local footy side North Broken Hill to its third consecutive premiership.

The Bulldogs beat South Broken Hill by 42 points, with Walker looking on and joining in with the team song after the win.

North president Ben Victory said that along with former Essendon and Fremantle star Dean Solomon, Walker was the club's favourite son.

"He was leading the team song all day in the rooms and all night he was right amongst it," Victory told AFL.com.au

"His connections here are still extremely strong.

"He played pretty much a season with us in 2007 and won us the grand final before he joined the Crows.

"He helps the club out financially – he's fantastic."

Fellow key forward Lewis Johnston must pass a fitness test on Friday before taking on Woodville/West Torrens in Sunday's SANFL semi final, after an injury scare last weekend while playing for North Adelaide.

Johnston looked to have seriously hurt his right ankle during the opening term against Central District in an apparently innocuous incident and was helped from the ground and into the change rooms.

But he emerged soon after and booted three goals in the Roosters' 62-point win, including an enormous 65m bomb from a set shot.

Meanwhile, Josh Jenkins is progressing well from his surgery following a broken ankle late in the home and away season.

Jenkins shed his moonboot some weeks ago and has been walking for almost an hour each night.

He hopes to be running unaided within a month.
