NORTH MELBOURNE supporters and an expectant football public will need to wait that bit longer for the freakish Majak Daw to make his senior AFL debut.

Daw was left out of North's final team for Sunday's season opener against Collingwood at Etihad Stadium, as were Will Sierakowski and Taylor Hine, both also in line for their first games.

The ruckman-forward looked good at stages through the NAB Cup but has also been nursing a knee complaint and will need that bit more time before becoming the first Sudanese-born player in the AFL.

Former Port Adelaide defender Ben Jacobs will play his first game for the Kangaroos.

The Magpies have named former Carlton half-back Jordan Russell in their final side for Sunday's game, along with 26-year-old midfielder Sam Dwyer, formerly of Port Melbourne, who was promoted from the club's rookie list to the senior list on Wednesday.

All the teams

Young key defender Jack Frost has named an emergency.

Melbourne has left veteran utility Aaron Davey out of its side for Sunday's MCG game against Port Adelaide. As expected, seven players will debut for Melbourne including first gamers Jack Viney, Jimmy Toumpas and Matt Jones.

Mitch Clark has been named after a race against time to get over a major foot injury that derailed his excellent season in 2012. Midfielder Sam Blease has also overcome an ankle injury and will play.

Port Adelaide's final team contains three newcomers and all are intriguing. Kane Mitchell won the Sandover Medal last year, Jake Neade is a slightly built but skillful running machine, while Oliver Wines is a rugged midfielder, already featuring heavily in betting for the NAB Rising Star this year.
