WEST Coast veteran Xavier Ellis' unlucky run with injury has continued after he suffered a calf strain in the WAFL last week.

Ellis strained his calf in the second half of East Perth's win over South Fremantle on Saturday and is set to miss two weeks as a result.

He played the game out, gathering 30 disposals, as the Royals were down on numbers due to other injuries.

Ellis had significant calf problems during his final year at Hawthorn in 2013 after tearing his calf badly in the 2012 Grand Final.

He played 17 games for West Coast in 2014 and 15 games last year after coming across as a free agent at the end of 2013.

But he has had a wretched run with injury this year, starting when he partially tore his Achilles in round one against the Brisbane Lions. He has played five WAFL matches and one game for West Coast since.

Ellis' misfortune wasn't the Eagles' only injury worry out of the WAFL at the weekend.

Fraser McInnes is set to miss 4-6 weeks with a hamstring injury, although there is some sense of relief as the club initially feared it could have threatened the rest of his season.

"The good news it's not one that requires surgery unlike last year," football manager Craig Vozzo told westcoasteagles.com.au.

"We were worried there for a bit. But we've got through that and it will be a heal (process) over the next month and a build up back to playing."

The news wasn't as good for midfielder Kane Lucas. The former Blue suffered a knock to the knee that caused significant damage and he is set to spend an extended period on the sideline following surgery.

"Unfortunately for Kane he suffered a pretty exotic injury," Vozzo said.

"It was a knee on knee, which has led to some cartilage damage that has required surgery. He's going to be out for quite a while. We're still waiting on a final assessment in terms of the period out but it looks more likely a long-term injury."

Midfielder Brant Colledge also suffered a minor hamstring injury that will sideline him for one or two weeks.
