THE ANGST in Adelaide over Kurt Tippett's departure has continued, with the Adelaide Advertiser reporting his defection may mean a contracted player is sacked.

The Crows appear set to cover Tippett with two players, having traded for Richmond big man Angus Graham on Friday, and with Jesse White a possibility to be involved in a deal with the Sydney Swans.

The newspaper reports that would mean the South Australian club would need to cut a player to make room for the required three NAB AFL Draft picks, with Richard Tambling the most vulnerable.

On Friday night, Crows list manager David Noble assured fans the club wouldn't be left short-changed by the Tippett trade.

"We are going to get the best goddamn deal for our club," Noble said.

"We're working our backsides off to get the best deal."

There is frustration at Hawthorn, too, after the club received only a third round compensation pick from the AFL for the loss of free agent Clinton Young, and nothing for Thomas Murphy.

Football operations general manager Mark Evans told the Herald Sun the Hawks felt they'd been "pick-pocketed", and would explore appeal options.

The future of Gold Coast ruckman Tom Hickey continues to be a talking point.

Hickey has requested a trade to a Victorian club, with St Kilda the frontrunner.

The Age
reports the Suns want the Saints' Brendon Goddard compensation pick (No. 13) for the talented big man.

Collingwood, with its three first round draft picks, may have bargaining power to secure Hickey, but Magpies director of football Geoff Walsh has ruled them out of contention.

Walsh told AFL.com.au's Trade Radio on Friday the club didn't have the salary cap space, having already secured Young and Quinten Lynch via free agency.

The Herald Sun says North Melbourne is also showing interest in Hickey.

In the same interview on Trade Radio, Walsh said Collingwood may consider packaging its three picks - now 18, 19 and 21 - and trading them for a higher pick in November's draft on the Gold Coast.

The Age
says the Magpies are considering taking former Carlton player Jordan Russell as a delisted free agent.

And the Herald Sun reports rookie Jai Sheahan is set to be another victim of Melbourne's list shake-up.

The young key forward, who has been with the Demons for only a year, will not receive another contract.

He joins fellow key position prospect Lucas Cook on the outer, after the recruitment of big man Chris Dawes from Collingwood.

Another tall, Stefan Martin, could also be on the move after AFL.com.au reported the Brisbane Lions' interest in him on Friday.
