Travelling interstate as a group can sometimes be a good thing, particularly early in the season with such a young team.

Our Club is used to making trips interstate given we travel pretty much every second week. While it can become a bit taxing on your body, it does provide you with some quality time spent away with your team-mates.

This weekend, the team will travel to Melbourne for the third time in the first five matches to take on Richmond at the MCG.

I joined the boys on their last trip to Victoria in Round 3 when they played Melbourne, but obviously not in a playing capacity as I'm still trying to overcome this achilles injury. It was good to just being back as part of the travelling group.

The team has a pretty strict schedule when they travel, but there is always a little bit of down time which you can spend together off the field.

Some of the guys walk down the street and get a coffee, while others will stay at the hotel and maybe watch a movie. The players are asked to keep their pre-game routine as similar as they would be if we had been playing at the Gabba.

As for the the coaches and support staff, they usually like to head across the road and kick a footy. Because our coaches are all former players, they like to get out there to try and prove that they've still got it. As you can probably imagine, it gets pretty competitive.

Unfortunately we weren't able to bring home a win on our last visit, and the trip back to Brisbane was a pretty quiet one.

Having spent some time with our Victorian fans while I was in town, it's probably fair to say that we haven't given them too much to cheer about down there for the past few years. I think we've also won just one of our past 10 or so matches at the MCG.

Let's hope we can turn things around against the Tigers this Saturday night.

I'll be watching it on TV from home, but I believe Browny is headed down for a visit to Melbourne. Hopefully he can help pump the boys up around the hotel and get our season back on track.
