GEELONG players were forced to catch taxis to Patersons Stadium late on Saturday afternoon after the team bus broke down outside their city hotel.

Steve Johnson tweeted that the Cats were getting cabs to the ground about 3.50pm, less than two hours before the start of the game against West Coast.

WA boy Mitch Duncan joked that he was in a limo on the way to the ground, but Josh Caddy's Instagram pic proved Duncan was cabbing it with the rest of his teammates.

The Cats' ad-hoc transport isn't the first time a travelling AFL team has made last-minute arrangements.

The Sydney Swans jumped on trams and caught taxis to the MCG for their Friday night clash with Collingwood in round nine after bus suffered a mechanical issue.

Despite the interruption to their pre-match plans, the Swans won by 47 points. The Cats will be hoping their night ends in similar fashion.
