A PROPOSED constitutional change capping North Melbourne's interstate 'home' games at four a season has been defeated at the club's annual general meeting on Tuesday night.

The motion brought by supporter group We Are North Melbourne (WANM) was supported by 58.2 per cent of the North members who voted, gaining 227 votes out of a total of 390, but needed at least 75 per cent support to be successful.

WANM's motion proposed amending North's constitution to require the club to get the approval of 75 per cent of its members if it sought to play more than four home games a year outside Victoria.

In the lead-up to Tuesday's meeting, WANM spokesman John Raleigh told AFL.com.au he was worried that if North committed to play too many home games outside Victoria, it would make itself vulnerable to interstate relocation.

WANM's motion had been publicly supported by former North administrators Ron Joseph and Eugene Arocca, but North chairman James Brayshaw and CEO Carl Dilena opposed it, saying it would unduly restrict the Roos' ability to grow the club commercially.

Brayshaw also gave a "cast-iron guarantee" North would not relocate while he was chairman, while Dilena said the club would be happy to consider introducing constitutional safeguards against relocation.

Meanwhile, North board members Carl Dilena, Brady Scanlon and Geoff Lewis were re-elected unopposed at Tuesday night's meeting.
